The ghost of President William Henry Harrison can sometimes be heard in the White House attic. William Henry Harrison was the ninth President of the United States. President Harrison caught pneumonia during his inauguration, and served only 31 days as President before dying.
The ghost of Abigail Adams has been seen hanging laundry in the East Room. The ghost has been seen passing through closed doors on her way into the East Room. At other times the smell of damp laundry and detergent has been reported in the East Room. Abagail Adams was the wife of John Adams - the second President of the United States.
Perhaps the most famous White House ghost is President Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United States. President Lincoln was tormented during his Presidency by the tough decisions he had to make during the American Civil War. On April 14th, 1865 - just five days after the Civil War ended - President Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. It is rumored that Presidnet Lincoln's ghost warned President John Fitzgerald Kennedy not to go to Dallas, Texas in November 1963. President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.
