Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer is the author of the Twilight Saga, which is told mainly from the viewpoint of teenage girl Isabella "Bella" Swan. Bella has an evolving relationship with Edward Cullen who is a vampire. Bella's friend Jacob Black is also a main character. Jacob is a member of the Native American Quileute tribe. Jacob can change into a wolf like creature, but is more of a shape changer than a werewolf.

While these books are a love story, they do not have "racy" scenes until the 4th book (Breaking Dawn), and even those are not explicit.

The Twilight series is mainly set in the rainy town of Forks, Washington. Edward and his vampire family have settled in Forks because of the lack of sunlight.

In an interview with Amazon.com for Twilight, Ms. Meyer said that while she read very little other vampire literature, her favorite was Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat. She had never read Bram Stoker's Dracula, although she meant to someday. She had never seen an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel.

Stephenie Meyer has also written the novel "The Host", which is not a part of the Twilight Saga. The Host is about Earth having been colonized by aliens who each live in a human and control their mind.

Vampires have lived on Earth for centuries, but stay unknown to humans. A powerful clan of vampires (the Volturi) kill any vampires who might expose their existence.

Not only are vampires not harmed by sunlight, it makes their skin sparkle and even more beautiful.

Vampires may have special mental abilities such as ESP or Psychokinesis. This usually happens to vampires who had these abilities to a lesser extent as humans.
