Sasquatch or Bigfoot

Sasquatch or Bigfoot are manlike or apelike creatures reported to inhabit the Northwestern United States and Western Canada. They are usually said to be six feet tall or taller. They have large feet, about 20 inches long, hence the name "Bigfoot". Sasquatch are covered with dark brown or reddish brown fur. They are generally said to have an extremely musty or pungent aroma. Sasquatch are commonly said to travel in pairs.

Sasquatch activity is concentrated in North America. Sasquatch have been reported in all fifty of the United States and all Canadian Provinces. Sightings are mostly concentrated in British Columbia (Canada), Washington State, Oregon, and California. Florida and Pennsylvania are also Sasquatch hotspots. In Florida the Sasquatch are commonly referred to as the "Skunk Ape" - referring to the creature's aroma. The Sasquatch has also been sighted in several countries in South America.

Sasquatch are frequently reported to be searching for food. The creatures seem to be omnivorous, eating both plants and animals.

Sasquatch may have telepathic abilities. Sasquatch reports have been connected with UFOs. Some have gone so far as to suggest that Sasquatch are extraterrestrials. Occasional stories even link Sasquatch activity to cattle mutilations.

Many theories exist as to the origin of Sasquatch. It is possible that Sasquatch are a rare intelligent cold climate ape. They may be visitors from other planets. They may be escaped specimens from alien spaceships. It is even possible that they are the result genetic experiments crossing human and extraterrestrial DNA. They also may not exist at all.

Film footage, photographs, and casts of footprints do exist. Skeptics insist these are hoaxes. In 1967 Roger Patterson took film footage of a large hairy creature reported to be a Sasquatch. If legitimate this is clearly the most extraordinary cryptozoological evidence yet. However, there is a good chance that the fottage is of Roger's tall associate, Jerry Romney, in a fur suit.

The Abominable Snowman or Yeti in the Himalayan Mountains has similarities to the Sasquatch.

I'd like to know why some footprints show five toes while others show only 4. Do more show 5 than 4 or is it the other way around? Does anyone know?
