Ghosts

ghost catA ghost is the disembodied spirit of a dead being, usually a human. It is often said that a ghost is a spirit that does not move on to heaven because it has "unfinished business" on Earth. Sometimes the spirit died a sudden or violent death.

There are several different types of ghosts. Poltergeists are noisey and sometimes destructive. A doppelganger is the ghostly image of a living person.

A place, building, object, or person that is regularly visited by a ghost is said to be haunted. Many places in the World are said to be haunted.

There are several ways in which a ghost's presence can be known. The classic and most obvious is that the ghost is seen.

However a ghost can also be felt. A ghost is typically felt as a cold draft or cold spot - often in a warm room.

A ghost is very often heard. The ghost may be talking, walking, playing a musical instrument, or rummaging through drawers or boxes. Hearing of ghostly music or voices used to be more common - today it is often written off as a distant television or radio.

Very commonly, a ghost can be smelled. It might be cigarette smoke, perfume, detergent, or other smell asociated with the ghost when alive.

Doppelgangers
A Doppelganger or Doppelgänger is a ghostly vision of a living person. Often the Doppelgänger is doing things the living person will be doing or has done. Perhaps a Doppelgänger is the physical manifestation of deja vu.

Sometimes the Doppelgänger is the direct opposite personality of the real person. A very nice person will have an evil Doppelgänger and vice-versa.

In other forms the Doppelgänger may make no contact with living people - as if it is on another plane of existence. Living people will only be able to see the Doppelgänger, not interact with it.

While resembling a ghost, a Doppelgänger is not a ghost. Doppelgängers generally do not repeat their visitations as ghosts do, and probably have different motivations for their visits.

Poltergeists
A loud ghost. Frequently playful and/or destructive.

Some parapsychologists feel that most poltergeist activity is not caused by ghosts. They think that it may be psychokinesis in living people, frequently teen-agers. This should be considered in instances of poltergeist activity where a teen-ager is present.

me and my famil have all ways had paranormal things going on around us off and on butt my sister keeps having a bad one it is like something evil get on top of her and will not lit her up thair is real Evil presence i hope you can help find out wat it is email me p.s her last about week a go

what would you say it would be when a music box began playing in the middle of the night and you haven't wound it up in about six months. I originally ruled it out as my be something set off the key it was going to play a piece of the song but it played the entire song. A few weeks prior it felt like something took a seat on my bed while i was trying to sleep. I'm not trying to claim anything but they were eerie feelings and I've had other instances.

I don't think I could deal with disturbed spirits and the like hanging about. I mean I had the feeling that someone was in the room watching me before but so has my sister. The whole combination of the music box playing the entire song and someone being on my bed really got to me.

my friend asked me to help her find some info for a friend and its about something that happended to her. one morning when she woke up she found scratches across her chest and all over her fingers. she thinks it is a ghost of some sort scratching her. I told her that it might be her scratching herself at night when she is sleeping but she doesn't believe me. i told her to video tape herself sleeping.

Can I please get your opinion on something???

When we first moved into this house, the garage was completely cleaned out, not a spec of dust. A family member of mine was walking around, inspecting it, and when they turned to leave, they stepped onto a small metal skeleton key. Very old. We kept it all ten years that we have lived here, and found nothing that it fit into. So, then about a year ago, we lost a key to an old grandfather clock. We searched and searched, to no avail. My mom was on this very computer, and NOTHING was on the floor that they key could have been in or dropped from. However, when she left the computer and walked to the kitchen, and came back, she stepped on it, right next to the computer. This is not a fluke. Then, just the other day, a brass handle to a desk was found in my sister's room, found the exact same way the keys had been. Nobody in the room, and nothing around. The handle was thought to be in the desk, but I guess not. Now that we are moving away, we want to know if this "poltergist" will follow us or not (We hope so - we want to find out the mystery behind it all, and there is no creepy vibe beneath it all)

Any help would be appreciated.

i have in my home an antique mirror..originally from Germany, never restored in any way....which i have been in....and have been able to see myself from above my own head looking down at the top of my own head...i can see myself in both places..i look exactly the same in both places...it has happened to me since i was a small child , only in this mirror...the mirror has been located in my homes all over the east coast of the usa..currently in Pennsylvania, and i have had this experience several times now spanning over 50 years...anyone have anything to relate to this experience?

It was always my asumption, and that of everyone I know, that a doppleganger was a being that was the complete opposit of a person. For example, if you were a priest, your doppleganger would be a devil worshipper and so on. I just thought I tell you so you could have every definition of a word and not leave anything out.

I am curious if you can help me out with something. I manage a movie theatre and have recently had my staff reporting to me that they are seeing me at times when I am not actually in the room. They have reported seeing me walk to my office door, walk into the auditorium, down the aisles, to the stairwell door. It always seems that my double is walking to a door. They report that they see me out of the corner of their eye, but when they turn to me I am not there. Or They may think they've seen me, then a few minutes later I will come out of a completely different door (The real me) and they are completely confused. This phenomenon has arisen in the last 2 months and is becoming more frequent. There have also been sounds. One night I ran a show for staff, a couple of them were sitting at the back of the auditorium, and hear the cash drawer open and change rustling. When they looked into the lobby, no one was there. There is often strange bangs
downstairs in the middle of the night (My wife and I live upstairs with our one year old daughter). When I check into it there is no one there, and there is no sign what might have caused the sound. My wife suggested once long ago that if there were ever a ghost in the theatre we would be moving immediatly because it would freak her out. As such I have not told her about the happenings.

I have not seen the doppelganger. One girl on staff who seems to be particularly in tune felt someone behind her for probably an hour or so one night, and at one point even felt breathing, and thought it was speaking to her (This time no one could see it). She was very creeped out by the whole thing. Any thoughts? I'm a little nervous because I have been reading that doppelgangers are often considered a sign of impending death (plus it's just a bit creepy). Is there anything else this could be? Any ideas or thoughts you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Do you know anyone I might contact who might know more about such things??

I think I saw a doppelganger last night - walking towards me in the street was someone/thing who looked exactly like he, it looked straight at me, but no other pedestrian seemed to be aware of it.

I saw the doppelganger in my home...it looked actually like I was really looking at the person...I talked to it but it did NOT talk back...I realized it was not really a person...it was almost like a transparent person....its hard to explain..but it was like looking at the actual person...it just stared at me....my dog was the first to see it....he is what caused me to look at the location the doppelganger was standing....it was only there for about 2 minutes...or at least that is all I saw of it...it was the only time I have ever seen anything like that.
