Champ of Lake Champlain

Champ is the name of the lake monster that inhabits Lake Champlain on the Vermont/Quebec/New York boarder. Champ is usually described as having a long neck and a flat head. Some descriptions have Champ with a thin body, others say it is more rounded. It is described as being anywhere from 10 to 30 feet long. It has been sighted since the 1600s. Photographs of Champ do exist, which may or may not be hoaxes. Some feel that Champ is a surviving prehistoric plesiosaur.

I was on this site recently and I was looking at the Champ stuff. Since my uncle lives near Lake Champlain (Elmyra Woods) he goes fishing a lot. One day, when he was ice fishing, he saw something brake the ice. It was about twenty feet long. He wrote me a letter with a drawing about it. He also sent me a copy of his local newspaper. There was one part that could explain the Champ sightings. There was even a picture too. They said that a Sea Sturgeon could be responsible. They are huge fish about 20 feet long and 1000 pounds. The sightings of Champ usually happen between the spawning season of that sturgeon which is when some of them stray into Lake Champlain to spawn.
